Use the mnemonic AEIOU TIPS: Alcohol, eccephalopathy (epilepsy, hemorrhage, encephalitis, mass), insulin (hypoglycemia), opiates (drugs), uremia (and other metabolic conditions such as hypernatremia and hyponatremia, hepatic failure, and thiamine defeciency), trauma, infections, psychiatric causes, syncope (or decreased cardiac output such as from arrythmias).
